METEORSTORM Resilient Cyber Operations Exercise
A Space ISAC member-only session. Two hours, five companies, one adversary campaign, and it counts towards your annual space-specific cybersecurity training, with a certificate to show for it.
About this exercise
Participants split into five teams, one for each environment in the METEORSTORM model: Terrestrial, Aquatic, Aerial, Orbital, and Deep Space. Each team runs a company with its own segments, its own treasury, and its own share price. One adversary campaign, modeled on real-world attacks, advances a phase every round and strikes one segment of every company.
Each round your team reads the threat advisory and votes one resilience measure and one detection signature. The right measure blocks the attack, the right signature halves it, and anything else lets it land. Every block pays into your treasury, and it is the only income in the game. The companies also depend on each other: three share a satellite payload and two buy their ground station as a service from a third, so one team's negligence costs its partners. That dependency is the lesson.
The exercise introduces parts of the Resilient Cyber Operations (RCO) framework, and its objectives are mapped to the NICE Framework (NIST SP 800-181 Rev. 1). Participants join from a computer, and mobile devices are supported.
Counts towards your annual training
The session counts towards annual space-specific cybersecurity training. Every participant who completes it downloads a certificate of completion recording the session and 2 CPE credits, the artifact to keep for your training record.
How the two hours run
- A walkthrough of every screen you will use, run live on the facilitator's display
- Procurement, then five attack rounds, each a ten-minute challenge
- A reveal after every round, explaining what the right answer was and why
- A debrief with your session's own results
What is included

The third Monday of each month, 13:00 to 15:00 Eastern Time (19:00 to 21:00 CET). Registration closes two days before each session.

Sessions are open to Space ISAC members only. Register through our Center of Excellence and choose a session: you are seated the moment you register, while seats remain, and receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. Nothing is charged and no payment details are asked for.
Session full? Register anyway: you join the waitlist, and any seat that opens is offered from it in the order people registered.
